Research and publications

Research component in architecture is generally low worldwide. Research aspect in architecture at ARU is not yet developed to a satisfactory level. Nevertheless the situation is improving due to the fact that all lecturers are required to carry out research. ARU has recently received with great applause, two architectural Ph.D. research publications (table 1). Moreover, the School of Architecture and Design is expecting six more architectural and two engineering doctoral thesis from various ongoing research as indicated on tables 2 and 3. Moreover, the department has received six research reports as partial fulfilment of requirements of Master Degree awards in Architecture (M.Arch.) as indicated on table 4. Additionally, ARU B.Arch. curriculum also requires final year undergraduate students to carry out research for their dissertations. The first part of the dissertation encourages students to apply scientific research methods in addressing architectural issues in the first semester. The second part of the dissertation provides opportunity to students to apply research findings from Dissertation Part I into a design projects in the second semester.
